A good specification tells the motor manufacturer how much torque is required, how fast the load must move, how long the motor runs, and what thermal limits the product enclosure can accept.

Start with the application load

For a drone motor, the key questions are propeller size, target thrust, battery voltage, flight time and acceptable weight. For robotics, the questions change to wheel diameter, gear ratio, acceleration, slope, dust exposure and continuous duty cycle. These details decide whether the project needs a high speed mini BLDC motor, a geared BLDC wheel motor, or a compact motor and driver board package.

Define voltage, RPM and torque together

Voltage, no-load speed and working torque cannot be selected separately. A 12V BLDC motor for a handheld tool may need very high RPM and short bursts of torque, while a robotic wheel motor needs lower speed, stable torque and better heat control. Before tooling or samples, AMOTIC typically reviews the working point, locked-rotor condition, expected current and controller protection requirements.

Check the controller early

A BLDC motor is only as good as its driver. Hall sensors, sensorless control, speed modes, soft start, over-current protection and connector layout can all affect the finished product. If the project also needs a custom motor driver and control board, the motor and PCB should be developed together.

OEM questions to prepare

Target voltage and battery chemistry

Rated speed, peak speed and working torque

Duty cycle and ambient temperature

Noise target and vibration limit

Shaft, bearing, connector and mounting requirements

Sample quantity and production forecast

AMOTIC supports custom BLDC motor development for drones, robotics and industrial automation with OEM and ODM service, including low quantity sample projects and no MOQ discussion for early-stage engineering validation.

Learn how to specify a custom BLDC motor for drones, robotics and compact automation, including RPM, torque, voltage, duty cycle and OEM manufacturing questions.

["post-986","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
